Dr Vodder's Applied MLD

The “Specials” techniques that can replace many deeper techniques allowing for pain-free treatment of many conditions which have been customarily treated with deep, painful techniques.

Dr Vodder’s Applied MLD offers a non-invasive, pain-free remedial treatment for many conditions.

Pain causes stress and increases sympathetic nervous system activity. When we are in “fight or flight” mode our system is not spending energy on housekeeping tasks such as “repair and digest”. MLD reduces sympathetic nervous system activity.

The lymphatic system is an essential part of the immune system. Our immune cells travel through the lymphatic system. MLD increases the pumping rate and contraction force of the lymphatic vessels.

These antiquated deeper techniques, as well as being painful for the client, are taxing on the therapist often leading to injury and burn out, reducing the working life of the therapist – not to mention the tissue damage and interruption to healing that can be caused by some of these deep techniques.

The specials techniques learned in the Dr Vodder Certificate of Applied MLD (yes, they are actually called specials, and yes, they are special!) replace many deeper techniques and allow for pain-free treatment of many conditions which have been customarily treated with deep, painful techniques.

MLD is not just for lymphoedema. Some conditions that can be effectively treated using MLD include:
